- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup white flour
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour or omit and just use 1 cup white flour total
- 1/2 cup walnuts optional
- 3 apples diced
-
Cream the butter and sugar together. Beat in the egg. Sift together the flour and spices and then blend that into the sugar mixture. Stir together with the apples and walnuts. The flour mixture will be very thick. Just mix it with the apples into a sort of lumpy mess, getting the sugar mixed with the apples as best as possible.
-
Scoop it into an 8″ square or larger greased pan (the square will be thick, going to a larger pan will make the brownies thinner).
-
Bake at 350 °F for 45-50 minutes. Thicker may require longer. Just bake it until it is browned on top. Let it sit to thicken if you can.
-
Serve warm or cold, plain or topped with ice cream, whipped cream, carmel, etc.
